VETTING OF UON STAFF KICKS OFF

The University of Nairobi has started vetting all its employees. The vetting process kicked off today 21st March 2016, with the ICTC staff taking their oath of confidentiality during the morning session, and front office the afternoon session.

During the vetting, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi who was present to witness the exercise emphasized on the need of maintaining integrity, professionalism and honesty at all times. The Vice Chancellor also urged the members to read the code of conducts and ethics and any other instruments given to them. 

The staff was also urged to keep all the assets of the university confidential. These assets include physical assets, intellectual property and technological property.

Mr Tim Mweseli the presiding advocate took the staff through the process of swearing, after which all the members present signed the oath of confidentiality form.

The VC’s closing remarks to the members of staff present were “you are the block that makes the University of Nairobi. Let us be people who take responsibility for their actions.”

The vetting exercise will continue until all the members of staff have been vetted and taken their oath of confidentiality.
